Through the support of CORFO's InvestChile program, Equifax chose Chile over other Latin American countries and potential locations in Ireland and India. Chile was the final choice due to its stable economic, social and political environment.
Equifax chose Chile to install its new Technology Development Center due to the country's many positive attributes. Among these, include high quality professionals, stable economic, social and political conditions, excellent technological facilities and exceptional investment incentives.
With the support of the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) through its InvestChile program, Equifax decided to install its new technology center in Chile. This decision was made after analyzing various options in Argentina, Brazil and Costa Rica as well as options in Ireland and India. From this center, Equifax will carry out research and development solutions for risk assessment technology, providing services to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The center currently employs a team of approximately 30 engineering professionals and is expected to grow over the next three years. Sandeep Gupta, Vice President of Research and Development at Equifax, stated that "one of the determining factors in developing the center in Chile was the high skill level of the engineering graduates in the country. As a result, we believe this center will progress rapidly and open up many job opportunities. This demonstrates the country's ability to develop solutions for highly complex issues and apply the most sophisticated technology."
The Executive Vice President of CORFO, Carlos Álvarez, highlighted the relevance of this new center in Chile by stating that "the installation of the Equifax Research and Development Center in Chile is particularly important because it provides a platform for highly sophisticated services, software development and design solutions for clients in the financial industry working with high technology. Additionally, it shows that our professionals have the ability to work in a world-class company."
The innovation brought by this company comes with the integration of technological platforms that provide risk management solutions, fraud prevention and identity protection.
Carlos Álvarez emphasized that "with initiatives such as this, Chile is becoming one of the most competitive locations in the region. Equifax adds to the more than 60 global service centers already in Chile and we are continually working to attract more businesses and skilled human capital, which will help Chile progress as a global services platform."
