The opening of the Third International Forum for Suppliers to the Mining Industry was welcomed by entrepreneurs and investors; it has become a key event for those seeking business opportunities in the sector.
Around 70 foreign companies participated in the event, including firms from Australia, Spain, the United States, Italy, Canada, South Africa, Finland, Sweden, Brazil, Israel and Germany. They met with around 80 Chilean companies, during the course of 200 matchmaking meetings.
The event was opened by the Corporate Manager of the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO), Andrés González. In the seminar "Investment Opportunities for the Mining Industry" he indicated that, "our favorable conditions and our proximity to mining countries make us an exceptional export platform."
Over the past three years, a portfolio has been built up of 86 projects, with investment of US$ 475 million. Some 13 projects have materialized, involving investment of US$ 66 million, and 9 others are under construction, involving further investment of US$ 12.5 million.
This time, the event offers interesting opportunities for Chilean companies linked to the metalwork and maintenance area, engineering companies and machinery distributors, and those with infrastructure and land available in the most important mining areas.
Mining Undersecretary Veronica Baraona brought the seminar "Investment Opportunities for the Mining Industry" to a close by inviting the mining industry to continue to invest in Chile. "We want them to continue to improve employment opportunities and the training of human capital. Mining is one of the driving forces of Chile in the future."
The program for the Third International Forum for Suppliers to the Mining Industry continued with a series of site visits to the Arica y Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, O"Higgins and Metropolitan regions.
